Juvederm®

Juvederm is the latest advance in dermal filler options by Allergan the makers of Botox Cosmetic. It is composed of hyaluronic acid, a component that is found naturally in the skin. How Juvederm works:

As we age, we lose hyaluronic acid and collagen in the skin which causes hollows, sagging, lines, wrinkles and folds. By injecting hyaluronic acid into the skin, we can mimic the effects of natural hyaluronic acid and produce the look and feel of hydrated skin. By filling depressions in the skin, wrinkles and folds are considerably softened and/or eliminated. Injections of hyaluronic acid can also stimulate production of collagen to further enhance the skin's youthful look and vitality.

What to expect from Juvederm:

Hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin using a very fine needle. In some cases, a topical anesthetic may be used. The injection itself usually takes 30 minutes and results are instantaneous. Following the treatment the nurse injector may gently massage the treated areas to mold the product into the skin. Recovery time after a treatment is minimal and most patients return to their normal routines right away.
