Photorejuvenation is another breakthrough treatment using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to create more even toned, brighter and smoother, younger looking skin. By selecting the appropriate wavelength or filter, your skin care consultant will be able to treat a broad range of skin conditions caused by skin aging and sun exposure.
IPL technology can treat a variety of benign facial imperfections such as sun spots, hyperpigmentation, blood vessels, redness, rosacea, fine lines, and aging skin simultaneously. As many other conventional treatments address only one of these problems at a time, The Landells Clinic is pleased to be able to offer our clients the flexibility that IPL technology provides.
How Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photorejuvenation works:
IPL delivers a pulse of light energy that gently heats up the upper layers of the skin. This energy targets the red and brown colors of the skin eliminating many of the vessels that cause redness and the unwanted melanin responsible for pigmented lesions. The heat absorbed by the targeted areas will also stimulate your skin cells to generate new collagen that provides a firmer, smoother appearance to the skin.
What to expect from Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photorejuvenation:
You may need 2-5 treatments at a 3-4 week interval to produce the best results. During the treatment your eyes will be protected with safety shields. Cold gel is then applied to the skin. As the light is passed over the skin you may briefly feel a rubber band snap or warm sensation as the targeted areas absorb the light. As IPL does target pigment you should refrain from having this treatment done if you have tanned skin or have recently used a self-tanner. You should wear a broad spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher for 2-3 weeks following your treatment.
